The Horning Family and the Mason Wrestling family will host the James
Horning Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Mason Middle School on Saturday,
January 19th. Preliminary wrestling is set to begin at 9:30am with the
finals tentatively set for 5:30pm. This tournament was named for James
Horning, a captain of the Mason wrestling team who was suddenly and
tradgically killed in an automobile accident in October of 2004. This is
the fourth annual rememberence of this type hosted by his friends and
family. All proceeds from the one day event will go to the James Horning
Memorial fund.

Last year's tournament saw one of the individual participants go on to win
state titles, Bo Touris (Lakota West). Lakota West's Ryan Fields finished second at the state. In addition twenty-one tournament particpants qualified for the state tournament with six earning medals. With the addition of Olentangy HS, this year's tournament will again provide area fans with top calibre wrestling with teams represented from Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, and MICHIGAN.

Since the tournament inception in 2005 the tournament has had 71 State Qualifiers participate with 25 earning state medals, along with 4 individual state champions.
